Please note the state law and San Francisco City park regulations around public consumption of cannabis:
State and city laws both prohibit consumption of marijuana in public.
*Anyone caught smoking weed in public faces citation and a fine of $100 to $250.*
We encourage everyone to enjoy and celebrate this 4/20 in an informed and responsible manner.
First and foremost, use good judgement and be a good neighbor. Keep in mind that other park visitors may be elderly, have young children or have no experience with recreational or medical cannabis.
If you do choose to consume cannabis this 4/20, please do so safely. Here are a few general tips and guidelines:
1. Be aware of your environment and whether it is appropriate to use cannabis there.
2. Know how cannabis affects you, and know your limits.
3. Never drive or operate vehicles while impaired.
4. Be respectful of others and do not smoke in designated non-smoking areas.
5. Be aware: cannabis can have a synergistic effect with other drugs, so be careful and informed about possible contraindication.
6. Listen to and consider the advice and constructive criticism of others. If you are exhibiting behaviors that make others uncomfortable, you may need to reassess your usage.
7. Use by minors is generally inappropriate and should be discouraged.
